THE VENEERS PROCESS
The veneers process starts with a consultation with Dr. Park or Dr. Kwon. An oral exam and x-rays are necessary to determine if veneers are right for you. We can’t bond veneers to a patient with oral health problems and there shouldn’t be any severe damage or orthodontic problems that require more restorative treatment to correct.
Once we’ve determined that you’re a good candidate, we will administer a local anesthetic to numb your mouth and file down your enamel from the teeth that are receiving the veneers. .5 mm needs to be removed to create enough space for the veneers.
Without this step, the veneers would be protruding much further than the rest of your teeth. A shade guide is used to match the porcelain veneers to your natural teeth.
Then, impressions are taken and the dental lab that fabricates your veneers will use them as a model for the proper size, shape, and size of your teeth along with the desired aesthetic that you’re looking for.
Our dentists in Stamford will place temporary veneers over your teeth while you wait for the fabrication of your official veneers. This is to protect your teeth and prevent your smile from looking strange. Once your veneers have been created, we will remove your temporary veneers and check the fit of your official veneers. If they are satisfactory, we will bond them to your enamel.
HOW TO CARE FOR
VENEERS
Despite your veneers being stain-resistant and highly durable, they are still prone to staining, chipping, and cracking if they aren’t properly looked after. Brush your teeth twice a day with fluoride toothpaste for 2 to 3 minutes and floss once a day.
Attend dental cleanings every 6 months to remove plaque and stain buildup. Limit your consumption of staining foods and drinks and avoid smoking. If you grind your teeth, wear a mouthguard at night. Don’t chew on hard, crunchy, or sticky foods, and don’t use your teeth as tools.
