FAST RESULTS WITH

IN-OFFICE WHITENING

We offer in-office whitening for patients who want fast results for a special occasion, such as a wedding, business meeting, or another such event. This is a great option if you need brighter teeth and you’re on a tight schedule.

‍In this procedure, Stamford dentist will apply powerful whiteners to your teeth and activate them with a UV light. Then, the whitener will be rinsed away, and the process will be repeated at our office to achieve your desired level of tooth brightness.

CONVENIENT TREATMENT IN STAMFORD

TAKE-HOME WHITENING

Take-home whitening is a bit different than in-office whitening. You’ll come to our Stamford office to have impressions of your teeth taken, then Dr. Kwon or Dr. Park will work with a dental lab to create a reusable set of custom whitening trays based on these impressions.

You’ll come back to the office in a few weeks to pick them up, and to get a set of whitening products. Then, you’ll follow the instructions provided by our Stamford cosmetic dentists to whiten your teeth in the comfort of your own home, without spending any time in the dentist’s chair.

Take-home whitening offers the same results as in-office whitening, but the process is more gradual, so it’s less obvious that you’ve had your teeth whitened. Take-home whitening is also typically a better option for patients with sensitive teeth, as it’s a bit more gentle.

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS

OF TEETH WHITENING?

The biggest benefit of teeth whitening is that it can make you feel good about your smile again. Stains from things like tobacco use and drinking a lot of coffee and tea can make you feel self-conscious about how your smile looks when you eat, speak, and smile.

But with whitening, you’ll feel great about your appearance once again. Teeth whitening from our team in Stamford can also help you look younger, since stained and yellowed teeth can make you look older than you really are.

KEEPING YOUR SMILE BRIGHT

AFTER TREATMENT

In most cases, teeth whitening will last somewhere between 1-3 years. To prolong the life of your treatment and to keep your mouth healthy, our Stamford team recommends brushing twice a day for two minutes and flossing once a day. You can incorporate whitening toothpaste into your oral care routine to help keep your smile bright.

‍You should also stop using tobacco products, if applicable. All tobacco products will stain your teeth, and are horrible for your oral health. You can also reduce your consumption of staining beverages like coffee and tea, or drink them with a straw. Drinking staining beverages with a straw helps reduce contact with your teeth, reducing the likelihood of future stains.

WHY DO TEETH

TURN YELLOW OR BECOME STAINED?

There are a few different ways that teeth can become stained or yellowed. One of the most common causes of tooth stains is the consumption of staining foods and beverages. Coffee, tea, wine, and cola, in particular, are major causes of teeth stains.

The pigments in these beverages have a tendency to “stick” to your teeth over time, infiltrating the porous surface of your enamel. Eventually, this results in the buildup of surface stains that can discolor your teeth.

Tobacco use is also a common cause of teeth staining. The nicotine in tobacco, combined with the other components of tobacco products, will easily enter the pores of your enamel. Over time, smoking and the use of oral tobacco will stain your teeth significantly. Typically, you’ll notice brownish-yellow staining of your teeth if you use tobacco for an extensive period of time.

Teeth can also become yellow over time due to the thinning of your natural enamel. Your enamel is white, but the underlying “dentin” is more yellow in color. As you age and your enamel thins due to wear and tear, your teeth may start to look more yellow.

This is not always treatable with teeth whitening, however. You may need to explore alternative cosmetic dentistry treatments from our Stamford office such as
veneers, dental bonding, or dental crowns to cover up your worn-down enamel and restore your teeth.

I HAVE SENSITIVE TEETH

CAN I HAVE MY TEETH WHITENED?

Yes! Even if you have sensitive teeth, you can have your teeth whitened at Clear Smile Dental Studio. Dr. Park and Dr. Kwon are specialists in teeth whitening in Stamford, and can adjust your treatment to accommodate your sensitive teeth.

In most cases, Dr. Kwon or Dr. Park will recommend using less intensive whitening agents if you have sensitive teeth. Whether you choose in-office whitening or take-home teeth whitening from Clear Smile Dental Studio, your treatment will be spread out over a longer period of time, and your teeth won’t be whitened as quickly.

By reducing the intensity of whitening, Dr. Kwon and Dr. Park can reduce the effects of teeth whitening-induced sensitivity, and keep your teeth more comfortable throughout your treatment.

Our team may also recommend that you brush with an anti sensitivity toothpaste like Sensodyne. This will help you mitigate sensitivity and stay more comfortable. You also may want to avoid consuming very hot and very cold foods/drinks throughout and immediately after your treatment.

HOW OFTEN

DO I NEED TO WHITEN MY TEETH?

This depends on your smile goals and the level of brightness you want to maintain after your treatment. Most patients opt to have their teeth re-whitened at Clear Smile Dental Studio in Stamford every 1-2 years, but the interval at which you whiten your teeth is completely up to you. Dr. Kwon and Dr. Park can help you choose the right whitening interval for your needs.

If you want to keep your teeth bright at home, you can also start using an ADA-approved whitening toothpaste that contains peroxide, as well as whitening mouthwashes. This can help reduce the buildup of surface stains, and keep your teeth looking great for years to come.
